Cosmetic Dentistry

If you are looking to resolve an oral health issue affecting the appearance and aesthetic appeal of your smile instead of its function, then a cosmetic dentistry treatment could result in the remedy you seek. Cosmetic dentistry covers a wider variety different types of treatment procedures such as orthodontics, dental implants, porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, dentures and invisible braces like Invisalign. Where general dentistry involves treatment to immediately rectify a dental issue, cosmetic dentistry is more likely to be an elected and non-necessary course of treatment to improve the appearance and aesthetics of a smile.

Cosmetic dentistry is the field of dental treatments such as tooth whitening or veneers which are designed to restore the look of your teeth to their best possible condition in terms of colour and shape to enable you to smile with confidence once again.

Dental patients looking to achieve a smile makeover who are in good general and oral health but seek to improve the colour and/or shape of their teeth to enhance their overall cosmetic appearance complementing their functionality and so boost their personal confidence on a daily basis. After initial consultation in our London dental practice, your dentist will be in the best position to advise you of the cosmetic dentistry options most suitable for you in your individual case and as presented.
As a choice of cosmetic dentistry treatment options are available each procedure will differ. If you are considering teeth whitening then at home bleaching or in-clinic bleaching can be conducted using fitted mouth guards. If you are considering veneers (ceramic shells) they are bonded to your existing teeth. With gum correction, it is conducted using minimal invasive surgery. Your cosmetic dentist will ask about your requirements, oral health and from this, detail a potential dental treatment plan. Please book an appointment to discuss all your options suitable for you with your cosmetic dentist here at Wimpole Street Dental Clinic, for the best advice.
We provide a comprehensive cosmetic analysis for every one of our dental patients to identify the best cosmetic dentistry treatment options for them from small aesthetic corrections to a comprehensive smile makeover. Example cosmetic treatments include Invisalign, a new denture, teeth whitening, dental implants and veneers. Located on the prestigious Wimpole Street, just adjacent to the famous Harley Street, our team regularly feature in, and win, dentistry awards. We can offer this as we have considerable cosmetic dentistry expertise on hand and in-house here at the clinic. For example, let us introduce to you Dr Raul Costa, a cosmetic dentist and specialist in biomimetic and restorative dentistry here at Wimpole Street Dental Clinic. Additionally, Prof Mehl has written several international peer-reviewed papers on that topic and is our foremost specialist on full oral rehabilitations. Our cosmetic dental team have decades of combined aesthetic dentistry experience and craft. Our recently refurbished and modern state-of-the-art dental clinic is home to the very latest and most effective cosmetic dentistry technology. Biomimetic dentistry concerns minimally invasive procedures designed to emulate the natural properties of teeth resulting in the maximum conservation of the tooth structure, better function and exceptional aesthetics.
Please be advised that prior to any cosmetic dentistry treatment beginning a full analysis and assessment of the current condition of your teeth will need to be completed. Depending on the treatment option you select the procedure could be completed in one visit or a series of visits as tooth whitening is an on-going process requiring time to take effect and veneers need to be accurately sized and produced to ensure a perfect match to the colour and shape of your teeth prior to a successful fitting, for example. We will always explain our treatment plan in full and explain the best way to deliver you a new smile you can be proud of.
Dental patients have the chance to correct missing or chipped teeth, resolve tooth misalignment and remedy significant tooth discolouration by way of cosmetic dentistry treatments such as veneers and tooth whitening. Overall, it is your personal confidence which benefits most from the use of a cosmetic dentistry treatment as your smile is restored in appearance and aesthetic appeal.
Our current fees for cosmetic dentistry treatments are: - Home teeth whitening trays and whitening gel £350 - Including impressions and whitening trays, the bleaching gel and guidance on how to use them to achieve a new fresh smile. - Zoom teeth whitening including home kit £700 - This includes a 2-hour whitening session and guidance for aftercare in our clinic. -Veneer single veneer £1,500, multiple from £1,200 - Like a composite veneer, a ceramic veneer can cover cracked/discoloured teeth or correct misaligned teeth. We prepare the respective teeth and take a digital impression. Our dental technician prepares a model and produces an ideal ceramic cover for your tooth that is tooth-coloured for a natural looking smile. - Gum corrections from £500 - This is a very individualised treatment and heavily depends on each case. From the correction of an entire “gummy smile” with a combination with veneers to a single tooth this price and effort can vary significantly.
Rest assured that you will receive an appropriate anaesthesia before the cosmetic dentistry treatment begins in order to provide a pain-free experience as much as possible. Should you have any concerns regarding any pain or discomfort, please raise them with a member of our team during your initial consultation.
Tooth whitening will last longer if you reduce consuming food and drinks which have a high degree of potential to stain your teeth, refrain from smoking and if you commit to practising a high standard of oral hygiene post-treatment. On average, the bleaching effect can last for between one to three years. For our ceramic veneers, they are made from a highly biocompatible and robust material and so are designed to last 20 or more years but this durability is also dependent on the practise of good oral hygiene.
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dentistry treatment which involves the application of a bleaching agent (usually one containing a small percentage of hydrogen peroxide) to brighten the teeth by several shades and so remove significant tooth discolouration to improve their appearance and so restore your own personal confidence in your smile.
The veneers we apply are made to measure ceramic shells bonded to your natural teeth during the procedure.
The NHS confirms that tooth whitening should only be performed by a dentist or another regulated dental professional such as a dental hygienist or dental therapist on the prescription of a dentist. There is a possibility of gum or tooth sensitivity which may occur during the procedure. If you have any concerns regarding the safety of any cosmetic dentistry treatment we offer at Wimpole Street Dental Clinic, please consult a member of our team for the best advice.
