Wimpole Street Dental Clinic welcome you to our bright and beautiful premises in the heart of the medical district in Marylebone. We believe relationships matter so expect us to invest time putting you at ease, and should you require treatment we will carefully explain the necessary steps and associated costs in detail.
We have a clear concept of modern dentistry — the combination of the finest handcraft, digital computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) technology. We have uncompromising standards in our laboratory and work to the same quality control as in our dental procedures. Producing the perfect restoration for your mouth is as important to us as the preparation and fitting procedure.
The foundation of all dental works are models — copies of a set of teeth. To begin with, an impression of your teeth and gums is taken and cast. In the gallery below you can see models prior to any procedures but after the grinding, which is done as preparation for dental crowns and bridges.
A wax-up is the diagnostic visualisation of the planned treatment, and it is done before beginning the procedure. The wax-up allows the dentist and the patient to decide on the desired form of dentures. It also shows which measures must be undertaken to reach the desired result, such as additional implants, bone augmentation and gum corrections.
Partial crowns are a therapeutic option if the destroyed area of the tooth is too large for a filling or an inlay, but too small for a dental crown. This way we can save tooth substance when grinding the tooth, as we have to replace only the defective parts of the tooth. Modern partial crowns are made of milled or pressed ceramic.
Fixed implant-supported single-tooth crowns are usually full ceramic crowns. The soft tissue has contact only with biologically compatible materials such as lithium disilicate or zirconium oxide ceramics. The secure connection between the tooth and the implant is achieved with a titanium base. Single tooth crowns can be screwed into the implant or cemented onto an intermediate structure (abutment). The preservation of your natural teeth is always the main aim of our treatments. Regular check-ups allow us to quickly identify and treat diseases of the teeth and gums. Gum disease is the most common but among the least acknowledged health problems in Europe — eight out of 10 people aged 35 and over have it — and it is the leading cause of tooth loss. Professional teeth cleaning makes a significant contribution to preventing decay and gum disease.
If you do develop gum disease, our clinic offers the latest evidence-based treatments, and treatment is always individually tailored to you. Dr Mehl and the team at Wimpole Street Dental Clinic adhere to the highest clinical standards and take time to carefully explain your options fully and transparently before treatment begins.
To ensure the best possible results we only perform root canal treatments (endodontics) under magnification. In the area of periodontal treatment (for gums and surrounding structures) we place special emphasis on long term care. Since regular check-ups and teeth cleaning ensure lasting treatment success, we offer patients a structured recall system, so that you never forget an appointment.
If a tooth is lost our dentists will find the solution for you, whether you prefer fixed or removable dental prostheses (implants). Implantology and prosthodontics are Dr Mehl’s area of expertise. He is a Specialist in prosthodontics, certified by the German Society of Prosthodontics (DGPro) and the General Dental Council (GDC).
We offer all disciplines of dental expertise under one roof, with a full range of modern treatment options. These include beautiful ceramic restorations, root canal treatments under magnification and structured periodontal therapy to restore gum health. As a prosthodontist with the German Society for Prosthodontics (DGPro), Dr Mehl has many years of experience in complex oral rehabilitation. The preservation of your oral health with beautiful teeth and healthy gums is the guiding principle of our work. Our friendly team welcomes you to the bright and beautiful Wimpole Street Dental Clinic premises on Wimpole Street in Marylebone. Dr Mehl welcomes you to our bright premises, rich with the heritage of modern medicine. We look forward to meeting you.
Your treatment starts with a comprehensive diagnosis and continues in different consecutive phases, for instance: emergency dentist appointment to dental hygiene session to finally placing a crown, and structured check-ups. This is known as the synoptic treatment concept. The aim is a therapy tailored to the specific needs of the patient, supported by evidence-based scientific guidelines.
Prosthodontics is the branch of dentistry concerned with the design, manufacture, and fitting of artificial replacements for teeth. Whether it’s inlays, veneers, crowns, bridges or implant-supported restorations, we offer you the whole spectrum of prosthetic treatment with high-quality dental restorations from our laboratory led by master dental technicians.
A comprehensive smile makeover or even small aesthetic corrections can have a powerful positive effect on your sense of self. We can provide you with a comprehensive aesthetic analysis and then realise your ideas of the perfect smile.
Structured periodontal treatment does not only include careful diagnostics and pretreatment by the dentist, but also regular aftercare by qualified dental hygienists.
Dr Mehl’s patients benefit from his many years of teaching and research because he integrates new methods and scientific knowledge into his daily treatments.
