Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are a highly effective cosmetic treatment designed to transform your smile by covering imperfections such as chips, stains, and gaps. Made from high-quality porcelain, veneers are custom-made to match the size, shape, and colour of your natural teeth, giving you a flawless, natural-looking result. Whether you’re looking to enhance one tooth or achieve a full smile makeover, veneers provide a long-lasting, minimally invasive solution that delivers stunning results in just two appointments.

At Wimpole Street Dental Clinic, we specialise in crafting nature-like veneers tailored to your unique smile. Our experienced dentists use precision and meticulous techniques to ensure your veneers fit perfectly and feel comfortable, while also enhancing your overall facial aesthetics. Located in central London, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional care, from consultation to completion, so you can enjoy a beautiful, confident smile that lasts for years to come.

At Wimpole Street Dental Clinic, the veneer process begins with a thorough understanding of the patient’s goals, which is a crucial part of the diagnostic phase. If veneers are a suitable option, we proceed with a detailed photo and video analysis of the face, followed by a digital smile design. This design is then shared with our dental technician, who creates a wax-up—essentially an architectural blueprint of the future veneers. The wax-up is tested on the patient’s teeth in a step called a mock-up, offering a highly realistic preview of the final result before any clinical treatment begins. Once the mock-up is approved, the dentist completes the tooth preparation and impressions in a single visit. A few weeks later, the final veneers are meticulously bonded to the teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do veneers last?

If done properly, veneers can last for decades. The key factor in their longevity is the amount of enamel left on the underlying tooth. Therefore, a very conservative tooth preparation is required, not only for the general health of the tooth but also to ensure strong beautiful veneers.

Most veneers today are made from a material called lithium disilicate (commonly known by its brand name, e.max), which is exceptionally strong and relatively easy to work with. However, we often prefer feldspathic porcelain, which, while more time-consuming to produce, allows us to achieve beautifully natural results.

Most veneer preparation is confined to the enamel, so local anaesthesia is often unnecessary. However, in some small areas, dentin may be exposed. If the dentist anticipates this, local anesthesia will be administered to ensure the patient remains comfortable and pain-free.

Under veneers, teeth are typically slightly reshaped and minutely reduced to make room for the veneers to fit properly. The prepped teeth may look less aesthetically pleasing due to their reduced size, altered shape, and rough texture. The goal is to create space for the veneers, not to focus on appearance at this stage.
