Case Study: Immediate implant for central incisor

The current case is very interesting as we tried to predict the soft and hard tissue healing pattern and tried to use a new approach to force the soft tissue/gums into a final aesthetic position.

How do Immediate Implants work?

Step 1: The initial situation

The patient presented herself with an external resorption on the right central incisor which warranted the extraction of this tooth.

Step 2: treatment planning

After careful consideration of the available options, we planned the implant procedure we went for this option.

Step 3: Extraction and Placement

We extracted the tooth and placed an immediate implant including a gum graft and restored it with a temporary tooth.

Step 4: Placement of Crown

We took the final digital scan for the permanent restoration directly in the surgical session and placed the final crown seven days later. This is highly unusual, but we trust the science and the known tissue-changing patterns. The final crown was made in a way that forces the tissue to a predetermined point of the gums being level with the other central incisor.

Step 5: Results so far

Two weeks later we can already see our plan working. We will update this case in six months when the patient returns to the UK.
